Jean Prouvé, founding member of the UAM, showed there a garden furniture collection he had developed with Nancy-based architect Jacques André.

As early as 1936, the two had presented a school desk with a school bag holder made of perforated sheet steel. This anticipated the design of the six furniture models (two armchairs, two stools and two tables) for the UAM pavilion.

Designing often necessitates considering the aesthetic, functional, economic and sociopolitical dimensions of the design object & design process.
