In 1980, the first Salomon ski boot, the SX90 Équipe, was launched. In the early 1980s, the company went public on the Lyon Stock Exchange. Since 1984, the company has also been active in summer sports. It acquired the golf equipment manufacturer TaylorMade and began producing hiking boots in 1992. In the early 1990s, the ski market faced a crisis; nevertheless, Salomon launched its first in-house ski in 1990, for which a new factory was opened in Rumilly.
