McLaren’s first road-legal car was based on Can-Am’s winning M6 and designed under the direction of founder Bruce McLaren himself.

This M6GT is an extremely rare car from one of the most renowned sports car manufacturers in the world.

Powered by a 5-litre Chevrolet V8 and fitted with a Weber carburettor, only three of these cars were actually made – two converted from M6 racers and one built from the ground up. Bruce himself drove one of these on the road, although the program was discontinued in 1970 after his tragic death.

Designing often necessitates considering the aesthetic, functional, economic and sociopolitical dimensions of the design object & design process.
