Lindy Hemming, costume designer on Die Another Day, had insisted that Berry wear a bikini and knife as a homage. Berry has said of the scene:
It's splashy, it will keep me still out there after winning an Oscar
Halle Berry's famous nude scene was supposed to be a three take deal at best. It turned into a three day shoot instead, largely because of the weather. There were rumors that Halle Berry was paid an extra $500,000 to bare her breasts in the sunbathing scene, but she denied the rumors, joking her breasts were worth far more than that.
