The Braun appliances have the same infuriating air of perfection. All appliances wear out eventually, but when a Braun breaks, it seems as if it has betrayed its promise to be timeless and reliable.
During the last few years, the company has tried to appeal to a wider market, which means compromises in quality.

“People complain that they don’t work as good as they look, which is a problem,”

Rams acknowledged. It’s not so much that they work less well than other products but that you expect them to work better.

Dieter Rams is an industrial designer closely associated with the consumer products company Braun and the Functionalist school of industrial design. His unobtrusive approach and belief in "less but better" design generated a timeless quality.
