Cary Grant or Archibald Alec Leach had a reputation of filing lawsuits against the film industry since the 1930s. The basis of these suits was that Grant had been cheated by the respective company. Most were described as frivolous and were settled out of court. A proposal was made to present Grant with an Academy Honorary Award in 1969; it was vetoed by angry Academy members.
