The main entry is activated with a subtle push into a generous hallway that doubles as gallery for the client’s art collection. Ambient light in the studio and living room is provided by a series of large north facing monitors while the more private master suite is volumized in maple millwork.

The house has a fluidity of space which is a direct result of having a strong relationship with the surrounding landscape. In a traditional house the floor and walls are built first and the roof is added. The Moebius House is being assembled around a chasis like a car would be.

The residence’s thermal performance is exceptional due to ample thermal mass to the south, double glazed windows to the north, long eaves, and a subfloor airspace to stabilize the diurnal range. A screened water tank in the front of the property, harvesting rainwater from the roofs, provides water for the toilets, laundry and garden.

Erik’s mixed media pieces are composed of watercolor, colored pencil, acrylic and oil.

The high floor communicates with a terrace. In the lounge the access to outside is made by a long large window that provides a continuity sensation from the interior space to outside.

Pinned to a wall of Stennett’s studio is an excerpt from the report of another study–it dryly notes how substances that ordinarily provoke nothing more than dizziness can, when aligned with the ideology and expectations of a particular individual, just as well lead to states of profound euphoria.
To Stennett this is a metaphor for the peculiar alchemy by which art transforms images and objects into devices for the expansion of consciousness.
