Miller Brewing Company was founded in 1855 by Frederick Miller when he purchased the small Plank Road Brewery. The brewery's location in the Miller Valley in Milwaukee provided easy access to raw materials produced on nearby farms. The company remained in the family until 1966.

In 1875 Heineken won the Medaille D'Or at the International Maritime Exposition in Paris, then began to be shipped there regularly, after which Heineken sales topped 64,000 hectolitres (1.7 million U.S. gallons), making them the biggest beer exporter to France.

A special, one-time, limited release by Hickory, NC’s hometown heroes Olde Hickory Brewery called Calico Jack. It’s an American Imperial Stout brewed with spice and natural flavors, then aged in rum barrels.

In 1708, Sébastien Artois became head brewer at the Den Hoorn brewery in Leuven, a brewery established by (at least) 1366. Artois purchased the brewery and gave his name to it in 1717, as Brouwerij Artois
