Goldfrapp began writing and recording their fourth album at the end of 2006 in Bath, England. Alison Goldfrapp described their winter recording sessions as difficult. However, spring recording sessions brought them more favourable results.
Seventh Tree, their fourth album, was released on 25 February 2008, and debuted at number two on the UK albums chart.
