In the late eighties Doig nailed his “psychedelic symbolism” into paintings, inspired by a dream sequence of the movie Friday the 13th(!).
From there on Doig painted his first “canoe” picture. Might be interesting to read the book Peter Doig by Searle, Grenier and Scott or see some of his work at the Saatchi gallery.
