Happy to tell you that AJ 
and me are working on two free new themes for WordPress, one is participating at the Sandbox Designs Competition, although AJ thinks that the Sandbox themes is too restricted, I think there is a way to create something new within the GPL restriction. On the other hand we’re doing a complete new theme without any base, just start from the scratch, as of now the theme viewer is full of bad coded, “cheap” and sold WP Themes. Awful.
